Cardinals Rule was done as an acrylic painting using a mix of red, grey, black and white with subtle hint of maples yellow. It was painted in my usual abstracted style in anticipation of spring. Hence the muted dripping grays of winter allowing the royal feathered friends to stand out.
I am a full-time working artist, and it is an absolute joy to paint! I’m hooked on vibrant color and bold, sweeping, dynamic brush and palette knife strokes. I try to bring passion, drama, and energy to a painting so that it catches your eye from across the room. I personally enjoy contemporary semi-abstract painting, as it allows for immense freedom and imagination. I think of painting as part painting and part sculpting. The textures can play as strong a role as the colors in the creative process. I often mix in techniques like dripping, layering, cracking, and scraping in my paintings.
