This original is sold as I was honored to be commissioned to paint this as a gift. The phrase "Stars and Bars" is often used in reference to the flag by American service men and women. The recipient chose "Scars and Bars" to recognize the sacrifice our brave ones put on the line to defend our freedoms.
I am a full-time working artist, and it is an absolute joy to paint! I’m hooked on vibrant color and bold, sweeping, dynamic brush and palette knife strokes. I try to bring passion, drama, and energy to a painting so that it catches your eye from across the room. I personally enjoy contemporary semi-abstract painting, as it allows for immense freedom and imagination. I think of painting as part painting and part sculpting. The textures can play as strong a role as the colors in the creative process. I often mix in techniques like dripping, layering, cracking, and scraping in my paintings.
