Borrowing a line from James Taylor's tune, "Carolina in my Mind", this abstract original seascape was painted for my daughter and family. We have a special place in our hearts for the Outer Banks as well as JT's heartwarming tunes. Hatteras is off in the distance with a misty morning light dancing over the ocean.
I am a full-time working artist, and it is an absolute joy to paint! I’m hooked on vibrant color and bold, sweeping, dynamic brush and palette knife strokes. I try to bring passion, drama, and energy to a painting so that it catches your eye from across the room. I personally enjoy contemporary semi-abstract painting, as it allows for immense freedom and imagination. I think of painting as part painting and part sculpting. The textures can play as strong a role as the colors in the creative process. I often mix in techniques like dripping, layering, cracking, and scraping in my paintings.
