My painting which illustrates the epic song by Don McLean, American Pie. The symbolism in the song beginning with the day that music died, when Buddy Holly perished in a plane crash in 1959, all the way through the 60's is unmistakable...and fascinating.

I am a full-time working artist, and it is an absolute joy to paint! I’m hooked on vibrant color and bold, sweeping, dynamic brush and palette knife strokes. I try to bring passion, drama, and energy to a painting so that it catches your eye from across the room. I personally enjoy contemporary semi-abstract painting, as it allows for immense freedom and imagination. I think of painting as part painting and part sculpting. The textures can play as strong a role as the colors in the creative process. I often mix in techniques like dripping, layering, cracking, and scraping in my paintings.
