I did not know how this would manifest when I began but had some of the colors in mind and wanted it to be somewhat abstract. As it progressed, a vision of a float in The Rose Parade began to appear in my minds eye. It developed for me into a celebration of life...a reminder to stop and smell the roses, even more, to be reveling in roses.
I am a full-time working artist, and it is an absolute joy to paint! I’m hooked on vibrant color and bold, sweeping, dynamic brush and palette knife strokes. I try to bring passion, drama, and energy to a painting so that it catches your eye from across the room. I personally enjoy contemporary semi-abstract painting, as it allows for immense freedom and imagination. I think of painting as part painting and part sculpting. The textures can play as strong a role as the colors in the creative process. I often mix in techniques like dripping, layering, cracking, and scraping in my paintings. I'm inspired by many things in the colorful world around me (it all started with comic books as a kid) and especially love to fuse music and...
