Deep reds and vibrant muted yellows have been finding my palette lately as autumn has come ’round. The changing of the seasons brings to mind how, not only colors, but the seasons of our lives change, often with and sometimes without our permission. The song, “Turn, Turn, Turn” by the Byrds (1965) has this memorable thought-provoking lyric:
To everything, there is a season
A time for every purpose under heaven

I am a full-time working artist, and it is an absolute joy to paint! Im hooked on vibrant color and bold, sweeping, dynamic brush and palette knife strokes. I try to bring passion, drama, and energy to a painting so that it catches your eye from across the room. I personally enjoy contemporary semi-abstract painting, as it allows for immense freedom and imagination. I think of painting as part painting and part sculpting. The textures can play as strong a role as the colors in the creative process. I often mix in techniques like dripping, layering, cracking, and scraping in my paintings.
